If some of you don’t know what NAHA is, NAHA 2018 is the beauty business’s equivalent to the Oscars for hairstylists when it comes to the best artists of the year.
I had the pleasure of attending The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA 2018) this weekend in Las Vegas. Let me tell you it was a blast! From categories to the “Avant Garde” which sometimes means “new and unusual or experimental ideas to novel, innovative, unique or even experimental concepts in hair.
The Haircolor category showcases artists who have an eye for the perfect palette and haircolor techniques. The work includes beautiful styles complimented by perfect color placement and an understanding of how perfect color placement can pull together a total look.
One of my favorite categories this year at NAHA 2018 was the Editorial and Session category. Hairdressers who have a tremendous impact on the world of fashion as well as influencing the looks that salon clients want. Editorial and Session work pushes the boundaries of wearable hair while complimenting an overall look. The Editorial/Session Stylist of the Year is recognized for having the best consumer or commercial work. Some of the images published in this category are consumer media magazines available on newsstands, electronic or in physical publications.
The Master Hairstylist of the Year category is an invitation-only category. The industry’s top platform artists, educators, artistic directors and former Hairstylist of the Year winners are asked to compete. This category is designed to allow the biggest names in the industry to compete with one another.
As a beauty blogger and hairstylist myself, it’s a great summer treat for MJ Hair Designs. Being around my piers, laughing, drinking, exchanging ideas and photographing the work is a high I always look forward to.
Please stay tuned for more of my fashion finds, trends, and pictures …more to come. NAHA 2018.
